Privacy Policy

Effective 7 October 2026

In short

This policy explains how the SeatMila Android app (“the app”), made by Matrex Softwares (“we”), handles information. SeatMila shows vacant train berths from publicly available Indian Railways reservation charts.

1. Information sent to IRCTC

To show a chart, the app asks the public IRCTC online-charts service (irctc.co.in) for the details of the journey you pick: the train number, journey date, boarding and destination station codes, and — when you open a seat map — the class and coach. The app also downloads the list of train names and numbers from IRCTC about once a day.

These requests go directly from your phone to IRCTC. They do not pass through any server of ours, and we never see them. As with any website visit, IRCTC receives your device’s IP address; IRCTC’s own privacy policy applies to that. The app does not send your name, phone number, email, PNR, IRCTC login or any other personal detail — it never asks for them.

2. Information stored on your phone

WhatWhy
Recent journeys (up to 10)So you can reopen a chart from the home screen. Each is removed automatically after its travel date, or when you swipe it away.
Chart alerts you turn onSo the app can check when the chart is prepared and notify you.
Theme, language, and whether you have seen the first-launch noticeTo remember your settings.
The train list from IRCTCTo search trains quickly, even offline.

This data never leaves your phone except through your own device backup (below). Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes all of it.

3. Chart alerts and notifications

When you switch on an alert, the app checks IRCTC in the background (using Android’s built-in job scheduler) around the time the chart is expected, and shows a notification on your phone when it is ready. There is no push-notification service and no server involved. Notification permission is optional and only used for these alerts; you can turn it off any time in Android Settings.

4. Device backup

If backup is on for your phone, Android may include the app’s on-phone data (section 2) in your device backup to your Google account. That backup is handled by Google under Google’s privacy policy; we have no access to it. You can turn backup off in your phone’s settings.

5. Sharing

When you tap Share, the app hands the berth details to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp). We do not see what you share or with whom.

6. Permissions

PermissionUsed for

The app does not use your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.

7. What we do not do

8. Children

SeatMila is a general travel utility, not directed at children. It collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

9. Not an official IRCTC app

SeatMila is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to IRCTC, CRIS or Indian Railways. Berth information comes from publicly available reservation charts and can change at any time — always confirm with the TTE or official channels.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
